Stop hinges are used whenever the range of motion of a lid or door must be limited to or stopped at a specific angle. Stop hinges prevent damage to nearby walls or other objects caused by opening a door. They are commonly used on medicine cabinets, electric switch boxes, tool boxes and other applications where the hinged door might collide with a wall, mirror or adjacent door handle.
Outside stop hinges are typically mounted on the outside of a door. They operate from a flat, open 180 degree angle, and come to rest at a fixed, specific angle (plus or minus three degrees). An inside stop hinge is mounted on the inside of a door in a folded position. It starts operation from the closed position, and moves toward the open position, stopping at a specified angle and moving no further.
At Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products, we offer continuous style stop hinges of cold rolled steel with an open width of 1.06 inches and length of 72 inches. The 0.035-inch-thick hinges can be designed to operate with an inside stop or outside stop.
Our team of experienced engineers can help with requests to modify or create a new stop hinge design, including custom stop angles, for your industrial OEM product.
