An over center latch is one type of draw latch. Draw latches consist of two parts—a latch and a keeper—which are mounted on opposite sides of a closure and pull both sides together during the closing action. An over center latch is designed so that the arm that latches onto the keeper extends over the pin on which the lever rotates. This ensures that it stays latched while under tension, so that it cannot be opened by accident.
Over center draw latches are used in a variety of industrial applications, including buses, crating/cases, electronic enclosures, HVAC cabinets, and trucks & trailers.
Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products manufactures several types of over center latches, including lever up, square, adjustable, and spring loaded styles. We offer latches with or without keepers, as well as different keepers to fit your specific product. Our latches are available in locking or non-locking styles, or with an eye for a padlock to increase security.
We make over center latches in stainless steel, die cast zinc and steel, with a range of finishes to coordinate with your product’s design, including black matte powder coating, electro-polished, blue zinc plated, zinc plated, tumbled, satin chrome, and bright chrome.
