A lever latch, or compression lever latch, is a latch that uses a lever handle to engage and disengage a keeper, or raise and lower a second lever that catches behind the door frame. The lever is key—not only to the function of the latch—but also to its ability to create a greater amount of compression between the door and frame. Once the lever is placed in the "down" position the latch is locked in place, and the only way it can be disengaged is by lifting the lever. This helps to prevent accidental unlatching from the keeper.
Lever latches are used in a variety of OEM products, including trucks and trailers. Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products offers industrial quality lever latches in a range of sizes to fit different applications and door thicknesses. Our styles include bolt latches and sealed compression latches, in locking and non-locking options. Each lever latch is manufactured from die-cast zinc with a black powdercoated finish.
If none of the lever latches in our catalog meets your exact requirements, our experienced engineering staff can modify one of our designs or create a new one.
