Strap hinges are simple and effective hinges that are identifiable as such by the long generally flat piece of metal that mounts to the door. From this basic criteria a large variety of hinges can be made of all sizes. Strap hinges are very robust due to both their design and the thickness of the material. We at Sierra Pacific Engineering and Products have made our strap hinges to fit any user applications by making two products categories; light and heavy duty. For these reasons the hinges have been used in a variety of industries including the trailer and vehicle industries.
Depending on the application a variety of materials and finishes are also available. Stainless steel strap hinges and aluminum strap hinges are best suited for applications where corrosion could cause problems with appearance and function. Steel and die cast zinc hinges are our most economical strap hinge solutions and still provide long duty life. The finishes that we have produce include chrome plated, mill, polished, powder coated and zinc plate. This helps to ensure our hinges look great on any door you make. To provide longevity easy use we at SPEP have included a grease fitting into some of our strap hinges to allow for periodic lubrication of the hinge.
